Born in Lisbon, Daniel Cardoso trained at the Escola Artística de Dança do Conservatório Nacional and the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York. He danced with Martha Graham Dance Company and Donald Byrd/The Group, and was a principal dancer with Peter Schaufuss Ballet in Europe.
In 2005, he returned to Portugal and founded Quorum Dance Company, for which he has created an extensive repertoire. His choreographic work includes collaborations with ensembles and institutions in Europe, Africa and Asia, including the Vaganova Academy in Saint Petersburg. At STEPS 2026, Daniel Cardoso choreographs The Rite of Spring and Swan Lake.
