Nicu Cherciu’s work is closely connected to Cluj-Napoca’s cultural scene. He has been photographing theatre and opera productions since the 1990s, collaborating with the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre and serving as the official photographer of the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca. His work also encompasses festival and cultural event photography, including a long-standing collaboration with the Transilvania International Film Festival.
His photography focuses on stage gesture, the relationship between performer and space, and those moments in a performance that exist for a fraction of a second before disappearing.
